News for October 2007

Scouts has moved to Monday evenings this term, and we welcome two new leaders, Sarah and Richard.

We are also looking forward to January, when Jon will be joining the leadership team.

The 10th Harpenden Scout troop is one of the largest in the district, and has a very active programme.

As well as weekly meetings, we also have numerous weekend activities and camps.

The highlight of the year is Summer camp, which normally lasts 8 days at the beginning of the Summer holidays.

Scouts are aged between 10½ - 14½ yrs.

What do they do?

Scouts...

  • make their own decisions
  • plan their own activities
  • challenge themselves
  • work as a team
  • undertake outdoor activities and challenges
  • help others
  • undertake advanced proficiency schemes
  • become Explorer Scouts

Scout activities are a combination of learning and having fun. They learn about themselves and how to look after themselves, they get to know people from their local community.

They find out about life in other countries and explore through organised activities. They care by helping those around them.
