Gang Show 2002

In January 2002, 5 members of the Troop took part in the 53rd Harpenden Gang Show. Here's what some of them had to say about it.
In the gang show I sang a variety of songs, ie:
  • We will rock you
  • Turn the radio on
  • Travelling light
  • Walking on the moon
  • Mambo number 5
  • To a different beat
  • I dig rhythm and blues
  • Love shine a light
  • A crest of a wave
  • Together
I appeared in the opening and finale and four other sections of the show. One in particular - MOONDANCE - required me to wear an amusing "ALIEN" costume.
As well as singing I also learnt a number of dance routines. For We Will Rock You, I had to clap in time to the music and Mambo No 5 I had to sping round a number of times, so I had to know which way I was going.
I really enjoyed myself and I'm definitely doing the Gang Show next year.

I was honoured to take part in the 53rd Annual Harpenden and Wheathampstead Gang Show!
The show took many many many (....) hours of practice, including a 10 hour practice, but in the end we got through it and when it got to the performances it really paid off. It felt brilliant!
We had to wear many silly costumes, but I think by far the silliest was the one we wore for the 'Walking on the Moon' number, in which we had to wear little green alien costumes!
My favourite number was the lively 'Mambo No. 5' simply because it was lively.
The gang show is an extremely fulfilling and enjoyable experience and anyone thinking about starting the tradition should do so soon.
