The Group comprises two Beaver Scout colonies, two Cub packs and a Scout Troop. These are supported by an active committee of parents and others, who help with fundraising and also look after the maintainance of the hut, the minibus and the Group's other assets.

The Group's minibus is available for external hires.

We also hire out tents and marquees.

The leadership team from all the sections is supported by the acting Group Scout Leader. There are several joint activities which have been run for all sections of the Group combined, and more are always in the pipeline:

Family Camp

This is a joint Camp for members of all sections and their families, normally held in September each year - and it keeps getting bigger and bigger!

The 2003 record (140 campers at Lees Wood) was broken again in 2004, with 180 people enjoying the sunshine and activities at Phasels Wood.

Here are some photos from the 2002 camp, also held at Phasels Wood.

If you have any photos of 10th Harpenden activities, please send them to the webmaster, as we're not very good at remembering to take photos ourselves.

Swimming

In October 2001, Harpenden Swimming pool was hired out exclusively for 10th Harpenden Cubs and Scouts for a couple of hours one Saturday evening. This went really well - everyone enjoyed themselves (even the Leaders...), and it was repeated in September 2002 and again in February 2004.

Group Camp

To celebrate the Group's 40th Anniversary, a combined camp was held for the entire Group on 28th - 30th June 2002 at Chalfont Heights. Over 40 Cubs and Scouts camped for the weekend, and were joined by around 20 Beavers during Saturday. It was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend - if a little tiring for the leaders!

Incident Hike/David Falder Trophy

This was held as a joint activity between the Scouts and older Cubs in March 2002. Three teams took part in the hike, completing a number of incidents on the way, finally returning to the hut where the final challenge was completed. Read more...
